A group is encouraging companies with trucks to sign up to a new code of practice designed to improve safety on the roads, which could be good news for car insurance policyholders.
The voluntary guidance published by REFLECT relates to the use of retro-reflective markings that could boost road safety.
Ellen Booth, campaigns officer at Brake, claimed that these could boost visibility and asserted that the case for them is strong.
She stated that the government has postponed making these mandatory for newly-registered HGVs until next year.
Ms Booth added: “The safety merits of these markings are clear and there is nothing to stop companies operating trucks voluntarily fitting these markings now.”
In a Parliamentary Early Day Motion, MP John Leech has called for fleets to sign up to the agreement.
In other news, Wealden District Council has launched an initiative to reduce the number of serious accidents bike riders experience in east Sussex, which could also benefit those with car insurance.
