Car insurance prices declined by a tiny 0.1% for February 2012 which offers very small relief considering the fact that the average car insurance policy has doubled in price over the past two years.

Admiral figures suggest support for government speed limit change

The planned Department for Transport consultation on increasing the speed limit on UK motorways from 70mph to 80mph looks set to be met with approval, according to statistics from Admirals Survey of British Motorists.

The car insurance company’s data shows that 59% of motorists are in favour of the speed limit being raised to 80mph on the motorway, with 14% suggesting it should be higher than 80mph.

Just 24% think the limit should remain at 70mph, with a small minority (2%) saying it should be reduced to 60mph.

However, the research implies that motorists view speed laws as rules to be broken, with 69% of motorists admitting to doing it sometimes and 12% saying they do so frequently. J
